You have heard it said a hundred times that the ‘Grass is greener on the other side.’ This is typically said in the case of someone’s perception of opportunity. When people become disgruntled it makes any opportunity appear much greener than where they currently are.
I would like to challenge this phrase for 2009. The truth is, the grass is truly more green where you water.
The ‘grass is the most green where you water it.’ So crank up the sprinklers. Pour on the water. Open the flood gates and invest in where you are at for this season.
Doing this will give you the right perspective needed to be a great leader.

Sounds like a way to manage the status quo? Isn’t a little disruption a cause for growth?

Actually it is in the midst of status quo that causes people to look for greener pastures. Yet it is not the responsibility of others to make our paths green, but rather each of us being the best steward possible of the opportunities we have in front of us. I simply believe people don’t pour enough into their responsibilities in order to truly grow.
