Here is a question for you… What do you want today? List three things below:
1.
2.
3.
Now… What do you need today? Again, list your three things below:
1.
2.
3.
There is a difference between want and need, as we all know. However, when you actually list them you find a bit more clarity in your priorities. Needs typically tend to be less fun. We usually choose the wants to help us compensate for the pain in the needs.
For instance… do you really need a Venti White Chocolate Mocha from Starbucks right now? Unless you need a sugar fix, the answer is, “No.” Yet, many of us use Starbucks as a treat to help us cope with a pain or to celebrate a little victory.
There’s nothing wrong with a little Starbucks. Think about how you might do the same thing in bigger ways, however… in relationships… in addictions, etc.
When we get an understanding about what we really need, and then deal with that, our wants come in line with real life living and we can lead a bit more effectively.
What do you want today? What do you need?
