The Entrepreneur’s Mandate

Some of you consider yourself to be a pioneer or an entrepreneur. Some of you believe you are an intrapreneur (entrepreneur inside a large corporate). No matter which one you are there is a foundational mandate to people like us.

The mandate is simple, but powerful…

To do anything of great consequence you must first Be. If you do without the being, your doing will come undone. Conversely, if your doing is based on your being you will find your doing will have longevity that will strengthen your being.

An Entrepreneurial Leader must:

  • Find out who they were made to Be
  • Analyze motives constantly
  • Understand their capacity levels
  • Get comfortable with risk
  • Act with great confidence in the vision

Today in Atlanta, Georgia around 90 entrepreneurs met to discuss what it means to be a successful leader. My message to these leaders was that it is time to lead with great tenacity and focus. Yet, at the core of leadership and influence is personal leadership. May this encouragement help you as well.

Hey, Jeremie – Regarding, ‘The Entrepreneur’s Mandate: Finding out who they were made to Be’; Great words…I really mean it, I’m not just flattering you.

As an adjunct professor of business focused on mentoring entrepreneurial students, I am encouraging my students to find out how they are wired: strengths, weaknesses, gifts, passions. They find their strengths where their passions and gifts intersect. This is where they can make an impact in their community and the world.

I consistently encourage my students to live and work by design (Vision) and not by default. I appreciate your continued coaching through your articles.

Thanks again, Bob Dowty, DBU and iTelesource.com
