This is a year of Resilience. I have made it my word for the year. It is important for me, my family, our shareholders and our employees. In fact, it is important for a company to live out resiliency in every season it is in.
Here is what Websters says about the word Resilience:
1. the power or ability to return to the original form, position, etc., after being bent, compressed, or stretched; elasticity.
2. ability to recover readily from illness, depression, adversity, or the like; buoyancy.
What is your depression or illness personally? What is your stretching as a leader? Where is your organization bending?
I encourage you to return to your true form in the midst of trouble or anxiety. Recover from the blows of the wind and rain of adversity.
As I said in the beginning this is my word for the year. It is not simply a good thought for today - this is for the year. Let’s encourage one another to bounce back during the tough times ahead.

“Little things” was my word(s) for ‘08. Doing the “little things” that are perceived as mundane and somewhat trivial “well” leads to doing bigger things better. I like the idea of a theme word or thought for the year. Great idea to share.
