Push It Forward

Many of you have been putting projects and ideas on the “back burner.” It is only natural as the economy and needs of the day overrule the plans of tomorrow. Yet, let me challenge your thinking and give you a philosophy I have used over the past ten years…

Instead of putting things off, push them forward.

Pushing ideas forward simply keeps them in your mind and in sight, though you may not work on them in the moment. I find that back burner ideas get filed away and never tend to resurface. Pushing them forward keeps them in front of you not behind you.

The home run idea, the all star new employee and the ideal partnership of the future are all ideas that you need to keep in front of you in times like this, not put them into the recesses of your mind. You never know when you will be ready for that idea, that new hire or that partnership. Push it forward and you will be ready for that next opportunity in front of you.

I agree with your philosophy. Putting things off is sometimes an indication of a heart that presumes that tomorrow will come. We have no guarantees. The Bible instructs us to number our days that we might present to God a heart of wisdom.  We usually only number our years. We would be better to number our moments.
