Memories, Perspective and Honor
Memorial Day is a great time to reflect and think about those who have gone before us. We remember the acts of kindness of the family, heroes and mentors who have gone before us. That is what perspective is all about. Perspective is so valuable. It is wisdom in the form of memories.
So what are you remembering this weekend? What perspective will you gain?
Here are some suggestions to help you gain some wisdom in your memory weekend:
- If your parents are not alive, what 2-3 things did you respect the most about them? If they are alive, share your answers with them.
- What historic leader do you revere the most? If you don’t have their biography, buy it. Enjoy learning from them.
- Is there anyone you can honor this weekend that has gone on before you? Stop for a moment and tell someone else the value they brought to you and the world. Honor them in that way.
- Do something to actually show your respect. Flowers, a flag, a note, writing in your journal. Any of these will highlight a weekend of perspective and cause you to spend the time reflecting on the acts and impact of others.
Simple ideas worthy of trying to expand your perspective on life and honor those you have loved. Wishing you the best!
